The Hot Club

A classic Rhode Island watering hole.

By Jenna Pelletier

For decades, The Hot Club has been drawing people from all walks of life to its waterfront patio along the Providence River. The Rhode Island institution is even featured in the movie “There’s Something About Mary,” directed by native sons, the Farrelly brothers. Grab a ‘Gansett, some free popcorn, perhaps even a Stuffie, and watch the sun set over the city with students, politicians, and salty Rhode Islanders alike. If it’s too cold to linger outside, head into the divey interior to test your limits in karaoke or trivia.

Every night at 8:30 p.m. The Hot Club flashes its neon sign on and off several times as a way to say goodnight to the kids being treated at nearby Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Patrons are encouraged to join in with their own flashlights.
