Cisco Brewers

There's something for everyone in ACK's unofficial town square

By Catherine Smart

You haven’t really been to Nantucket until you’ve visited Cisco Brewers, a.k.a. the island’s happy place. And not just for craft beer fans! The experience starts at the visitor’s center downtown, where you’ll hop on the free shuttle—a red passenger van wrapped in the Cisco logo with fresh flowers on the dashboard and Grateful Dead blaring from the speakers. When you roll up to the brewery 10 minutes later, the fun really begins. The site is also home to Triple Eight Distillery and Nantucket Vineyard, and three covered bars surround an open courtyard. The typical crowd is a healthy mix of locals, tourists, summer people, friendly dogs, and free-range kids, all lounging at communal tables or grooving to a local band. It’s worth noting that you don’t have to be a craft beer lover, or even a drinker to enjoy Cisco: Come for the live music or to indulge at resident food trucks like Big Hug Dumplings, Lobster Trap Truck, and 167 Raw. Cisco is year-round, but note that the Nantucket taproom and the Cisco Brewers shuttle schedule takes a brief winter break annually around February.
