Kountry Kart Deli

Whether you’re drunk or hungover, this sub shop is here for you.

By Molly McDonough

If you’re seeking farm-to-table cuisine and craft beer, steer clear of Kountry Kart—for now. Once you’ve had your fill of Vermont veggies and downed way too many brews, you might just end up here in the middle of the night feeling rowdy and ravenous. Wedge yourself into the disorganized line and order the late-night sub of your dreams from the seemingly endless menu. Or take a cue from the drunk college kids and order one of many twists on The Shiner: a basic breakfast sandwich with fried hash browns wedged into the bun. There’s no real seating, so grab your ketchup, salt, and pepper packets and munch on your sandwich as you stumble home.

Kountry Kart Deli

155 Main Street, Burlington, VT

  • Must Have

The Shiner

Key basic breakfast sandwich components (a real egg, American cheese, and your favorite meat), elevated with crunchy fried hash browns. Don’t order a large unless you can handle 12 inches of it.

  • Insider Tip

If you don’t feel like listening to the musings of intoxicated co-eds while waiting for your eggs to cook, call your order in ahead of time and pick it up.
