Get your fix of fancy tinned fish

By Catherine Smart

One of our very favorite places to eat on Nantucket doesn’t have a proper kitchen, and much of its seafood is served straight from a can. What?! You read that right. This charming subterranean spot serves natural wines alongside the silkiest, most exquisite tinned seafood—like white tuna belly from Spain and spiced sardines from Portugal. Of course, there are wonderful fresh seafood dishes too, like the Jicama Shell Taco that changes daily, the Tuna Tartare Sandwich, and a Lobster Roll on challah with lemon aioli. Let the knowledgeable staff guide you to the right pour, nibble on jamón ibérico sliced straight from its perch at the bar, and last but not least: check out the playful powder room decor.
