A Sommelier's Favorite Takeout Food-and-Wine Pairings
Boston bars and restaurants may not be allowed to sell full cocktails through takeout and delivery—but they can sell mixes and kits. Pick up a cocktail kit from the following venues and just add booze to enjoy some of your favorite libations at home.
In addition to selling cocktail pantry supplies like bitters, brine, and ice, Alcove is selling cocktail kits containing everything needed to make Espresso Martinis, Bloody Marys, Daiquiris, and more. Order the kits online for pick-up or delivery via Caviar.
Blossom Bar is selling ice, garnishes, and glassware in addition to a range of Craft Blossom Mixers that allow domestic bartenders to recreate favorites like the Bocadillo Sour or the Angie Valencia. Place orders online for pick-up.
The Butcher Shop
The Barbara Lynch Collective’s “Best of BLC Takeout” initiative operating out of The Butcher Shop includes cocktail kits with all you need (aside from booze) to make Bourbon Smashes, Mai Tais, and Grapefruit Margaritas at home. Orders can be placed online for pick-up.
As part of its takeout menu, the South End enoteca is selling a “Spritz Kit” that includes a bottle of Prosecco, a can of Seagram’s seltzer, a blood orange, and a recipe card explaining how patrons can add an aperitif to turn it into a stellar spritz. (If you don’t have a bottle at home, grab your aperitif across the street at Formaggio South End.) Orders can be placed online for pick-up.
The Allston bar is selling cocktail mixes for more than a half-dozen of their drinks, including the Ward Eight and the Lone Star Margarita served next door at sister spot Lone Star Taco Bar. Order online for pick-up.
Fox & The Knife
Fox & The Knife is selling a “Rosé Spritz Kit for Two” that can be ordered online for pick-up.
Lone Star Taco Bar
Both the Allston and Cambridge locations of Lone Star Taco Bar are selling cocktail mixes for drinks including the Lone Star Margarita and the Paloma, as well as their homemade Sangrita tequila chaser. Orders can be placed online for pick-up.
On Saturdays and Sundays, Saltie Girl is selling a Mimosa kit that contains one bottle of Veuve du Vernay Champagne plus pineapple, peach, and blood orange juices for topping off. Orders can be placed via phone or email (through firstname.lastname@example.org) for pick-up.
