The Nice

The cocktails are on-point in this dimly-lit den.

By Catherine Smart

Grab the gold-lacquered banister, climb up the neon-lit steps, and enter a mid-century modern cocktail bar that manages to be at once cozy and a little bit sexy—like the perfect pair of pajamas. The beamed ceiling is low. The black wallpaper is embossed with tigers. There is a palm frond and a Luxardo cherry in the rum-and-brandy-based Pussers Punch. The swanky vibe from this spot’s previous life as The Red Door lives on, but with better glassware (from coupes to cut-glass), and a tiki-tinged cocktail program that will transport you back to the Mad Men era.
